travel thirst
03.14.09
for the past weeks, i’ve been feeling the urge to really step out of my beloved cebu. as usual, i’ve nary the time nor the funds to do so. so one could just imagine the frustration i have every time i click on cebu pacific’s site and see they have promos i could not avail of for reasons already mentioned.
it was only when i was 23 that i first discovered the love to set foot on other places. since my very first trip, i’ve made it appoint to visit other towns in the country for the sole purpose of sightseeing and to experience some form of exhilaration at least once or twice. yes, i’m weird this way. it thrills me to be able to book a flight somewhere even though there’s a form of uncertainty attached. and yes, though i’d like to believe i’m a traveler, reality is that i could only travel once or twice in a given year. what with only 6 days of leave available to us each year.

foiled plan
grrr…. we won’t be able to go to thailand as we initially planned.
darn, double darn.
fare is just too expensive. haha, from 6,900++ back in april, the airfare now costs 16,300++ and rising. on top of that, we would be spending the first few minutes of 2009 in flight. that’s because our schedule won’t allow us to stay beyond january 1 and the flight that fits our schedule leaves at 12:05 A.M. on january 1, which means we’ve to be at the airport as the year 2008 bids farewell. hayyy… so this year we’d have to content ourselves with a trip to luzon, hehe… that is if madayon pud siya [LOL!!]
well, i know we’ve tickets for cebu-manila-cebu [dec. 27 to jan. 1], but with no itinerary and accommodations, yet. so we’ll just see come december. i’m crossing my fingers we can swing it to SAGADA….

birthday gift + wishful thinking
when i checked my mail this morning, i got a newsletter from a matchbox twenty community site. i clicked open the mail and voila, i got this:
the first thing that came to my mind was “woh, what an excellent birthday gift!” then reality sank in.
it’s rather impossible to get a U.S. visa.
even if luck strikes me twice and i get a visa [really, really wishful thinking on my part], how in the heck can i afford the concert ticket much more the plane ticket??
but really, it would make a nice birthday gift to self and a good travel itinerary too! damn, rob thomas singing on my birthday not.

trip down south
upon learning that the 25th of february was declared a non-working holiday, a group of officemates went about planning a weekend trip down south.
without thinking about the dates, i readily advised the group to count me in. it was only later that yam pointed out that i’d only have one full day’s rest if i push with the plan. it didn’t sink in that i’d be a little tired after my feb. 16-21 palawan trip. but anyway there was the come on that was “kawasan falls”. hehe, i’ve been to different places in the luzvimin area, but hasn’t been to the famed “kawasan falls” of dear old cebu [my hometown]. i consider myself a disgrace to cebu for not prioritizing the many local destinations that cebu has to offer. yup, i’ve never been to camotes, bantayan, malapascua, and what have you… hopefully, that should change. the itinerary below should be a good start.

there's no special reason for the name except the love of putting my foot in front of the other until i'm breathless. traveling is a new found love for me. though i'm not blessed with beautiful-looking feet, i've gotten the habit of taking photos of my feet every time i set foot on lands outside of my beloved cebu. THANKS FOR VISITING!!! leave me a note or two. send it to vetlongwalks@yahoo.com or drop me a comment here. would love to hear from you!
