UPLB’s Yoghurt and Freshmilk

16 Mar

am not a big fan of yoghurt and freshmilk. however, for health reasons – i’ve developed a taste for them. of course, i’ve only consumed the ones available in the supermarkets and my favorites are Nestle’s Heavenly Mango (yoghurt) and Selecta’s Low Fat Fortified. but quite recently i learned that anything dairy is NOT very good for my adenomyosis condition. so if could help it, i avoid dairy at all cost. now last saturday, i went to laguna. prior to leaving for laguna, i asked a college friend (penfires) for a few tips. one of her tips was NEVER to miss the yoghurt and freshmilk sold over at U.P. Los Banos (read: ban-yos). so after visiting rizal shrine in calamba laguna, miss debi and i went straight to U.P. Los Banos. WOW! the campus was HUGE!!! (of course my point of comparison was our very, very small U.P. Cebu campus). jeepneys actually ply within the campus (if i’m not mistaken) as well as “trisikad”. so the moment we were inside UPLB’s campus, we hailed a trisikad and asked to be dropped off at the place selling freshmilk and yoghurt. the manong sikad driver told us that there were two places he knew of; one is where he dropped us off (forgot the name) and the other is in gate 3.

@store 1 [darn, forgot the name]

there, we each got a cup of mango-flavored yoghurt!.

YUM!! i love the yoghurt’s creaminess minus the the ultra sweet one gets from commercially available yoghurts. because of its yumminess, miss debi thought the chocolate-flavored freshmilk would also taste as heavenly. unfortunately, the only ones available then was the 1000mL size packed in plastic pouch. FYI: most of the products were sold out that day. anyhow, we proceeded to gate 3 to see if there’s freshmilk available sold in a much smaller size. when we reached gate 3, only miss debi bought a 500-mL bottle of freshmilk. i was trying to limit my dairy intake, so. when miss debi got her freshmilk, she swore it’s the best milk she’s ever had. that i’d regret it if don’t at least take a swig. so, i did!

WOW! she was RIGHT!.. it’s the best freshmilk ever. you won’t even know you’re drinking milk – which is a good thing.. there was no “langsa” taste to it that i often associate with milk. as IN, it’s creamy without the “langsa” factor. i even think you could have it as your staple drink. something you can have not just when you wish to fall asleep. anyway, their freshmilk IS THAT GOOD!! unfortunately, we couldn’t buy a lot of it as the milk would spoil if left unrefrigerated within the next two hours. oh, well.

so, if you ever find yourself in the los banos area, do drop by the U.P. College. asked to be dropped off at the “Animal Husbandry”. once you’re in the area, just ask around where you can find the two stores i told you about earlier. truly, you won’t regret it!
