in my opinion, a trip to camiguin is a total waste of time and money if YOU FAIL TO VISIT its famed “WHITE ISLAND.”

apart from camiguin’s numerous springs, i’d say white island is enough to satisfy one’s cravings [?] for crystal clear waters and soft fine white sands. the only downside here is its teeny size prevents the erection of structures for longer stay in the island. one can’t stay overnight here – a total shame. although, it’s great in a way as the pristine waters won’t be ruined by people’s trash or whatever.
our specific destination: barangay yumbing, mambajao, camiguin
just click this for general directions on how to get to camiguin from cebu.
while this will give you directions on how we reached yumbing, mambajao as well as accommodations info.
anyway, as soon as you reach yumbing – you can ask locals to help you in getting yourself a motorized banca to transport you to white island. although white island can be reached from other parts of mambajao, yumbing they say is the closest to white island.

there's no special reason for the name except the love of putting my foot in front of the other until i'm breathless. traveling is a new found love for me. though i'm not blessed with beautiful-looking feet, i've gotten the habit of taking photos of my feet every time i set foot on lands outside of my beloved cebu. THANKS FOR VISITING!!! leave me a note or two. send it to vetlongwalks@yahoo.com or drop me a comment here. would love to hear from you!

hi!
i love your posts about Camiguin, especially for the sleep in suggestions. was just wondering if managed to visit other spots aside from the White Island? is it possible to rent for a day, say a tricycle to take you to other spots? if so, do you have any idea how much it is?
thank you and more more travel!
hi! thanks. glad to know you enjoyed my camiguin posts. i’m actually, not finished yet. haven’t had the time to finish chronicling our camiguin trip.
with regards to your question, yes we managed to visit other places in camiguin such as katibawasan falls, ardent hot spring, sto. nino cold spring, sunken cemetery and some church ruins whose name totally escaped me as of the moment. just like our white island trip, it was manang celia who arranged our “day trip” to the above-mentioned places. she got us a multicab. according to her, the standing rate for this tour is PhP1,500 – but she managed to convince the multicab owner to come down on the price. we paid PhP1,300 [divided amongst the 4 of us in the group].
when are you planning to visit camiguin? hehe, i might just continue with my other posts so i can be of help more. after all, this is the reason i blog about my travels.
hi! thank u for this wodnerful posts aout camiguin. we have tickets for cdo on june 19-25. we plan to visit cdo, camiguin and dahilayan ( our late honeymoon actually).
may i ask u the ff questions?
1. with ur day trip, how many hours do we have to allot for this?
2. we actually have 2 half day time slot to fill. our first day which is from 1pm onwards and our last day wherein we have the whole morning free. then we have our one whole free day which we first thought of alloting our island tour.
can u give me some suggestions on how to fill up ur time in the island? id like to stay by the beach as much as possible..
hi. pardon the late reply. been ill lately.
oh, big congratulations first!
1. this depends on how early you wish to start your day and how many points of interest you wish to check out. in our case, we started the day at 6 AM and managed to visit the falls, one hot spring, one cold spring, the sunken cemetery, and an old church.. ended the day 5yish.. camiguin has lots of springs so others were left unexplored. probably for next time..
2. on our first day, we arrived lunch time so we just spent it at paras beach resort (they’ve a nice pool, though we weren’t able to use as we werent guests). haha, we were actually there just for picture taking and to kill time as it was too hot to visit white island. just lounging until 3pm – our arrangement with the boatman to go to white island. stayed at the beach until 5 pm.
there are no amenities at white island, just the beach and pure white sand.. unfortunately, the beach of the resorts aren’t that appealing..
hmm, i’m not so sure how you’re going to spend the last AM – best bet is at paras..otherwise, you’ll have to travel which can kill time..or perhaps you can try the other resorts – but much like paras, it’ll be the pools – not the beach as only white island offers the nicest of sand and water..(white island is independent of any resort)
i hope this helps..
hi, i was wondering about your other post regarding golden sunset resort in camiguin? how do i get in touch with the resort, i am abroad and i wonder if you have the website or email addy? also how do we get there from the pier, we will be jumping off from CDO, were scheduled to go on june and i would like everything fixed up before we go. thank you.
hi jord! thanks for visiting.
you may want to check out my post “camiguin in brief”. just use the search box. you’ll find there links about how to get there from cdo to camiguin..then from benoni port to yumbing. when you’re in yumbing you can just ask locals or hail a trike to get you there.
here’s a link i found on the net for camiguin sunset beach club’s contact info:
